What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign® is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.

What are some benefits of Invisalign?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

How does Invisalign work?

You wear each aligner for a few weeks, changing to the next aligner according to your plan, and visit your dentist every few months to monitor your progress. Each aligner puts gentle pressure on your teeth to guide them toward their final position. An AcceleDent mouthpiece, which fits around your aligners, can speed up the process, potentially cutting your treatment time in half.

iTero® Element™ – 3D Scanner

This high technology scanner is engineered to deliver an exact and three-dimensional footprint of your mouth so you can have a detailed representation of all teeth, bite, and jaw condition.

  • Provides a better patient experience.
  • Capability to show simulated outcomes. You will see possible results beforehand.
  • A totally painless option.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

Dr. Gustavo Salas, your orthodontist at City Smiles Dental and Orthodontics, performs a comprehensive consultation to determine your candidacy for Invisalign. This includes a review of your health history, a dental exam, digital X-rays, and an information session about the Invisalign system.

Invisalign isn’t just for adults. Teens can enjoy the same Invisalign benefits. Aligners designed for teenagers include a blue compliance indicator, so parents can monitor the amount of time that their teen wears their aligners each day.

For patients with budget concerns, City Smiles Dental and Orthodontics also offers “Gusaligners,” an in-house brand of clear aligners invented by Dr. Salas.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Invisalign actually work to straighten teeth?2026-05-26T11:00:13+00:00

Instead of using metal wires and brackets attached to your teeth, Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic trays called aligners. Every week or two, you switch to a new set of aligners that are engineered to gently and precisely shift your teeth into place. Because they are practically invisible, you can transform your smile without anyone noticing.

Is Invisalign treatment just as effective as traditional braces?2026-05-26T11:01:21+00:00

Yes. In the hands of an experienced, specialized orthodontist, clear aligners are incredibly effective for the vast majority of orthodontic issues. From minor crowding and spaces to complex bite adjustments like overbites or underbites, modern clear aligner technology delivers excellent, high-caliber results.

How many hours a day do I need to wear my clear aligners?2026-05-26T11:03:17+00:00

For your treatment to stay on track and be as efficient as possible, you need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day. You should only take them out when you are eating meals, drinking anything other than water, or brushing and flossing your teeth. Have more technical questions about daily wear? Visit our Full Invisalign FAQ Page for a complete breakdown.

Will wearing Invisalign aligners hurt?2026-05-26T11:04:45+00:00

Getting your aligners doesn’t hurt at all, but you will feel some pressure and mild soreness for the first couple of days after you start a new set of trays. This is a great sign. It just means the aligners are doing their job and safely moving your teeth. The discomfort passes quickly and is generally much milder than the soreness from traditional wire tightening.

How much does Invisalign cost, and will my insurance help?2026-05-26T11:05:03+00:00

The investment for clear aligners is usually very comparable to the cost of traditional braces. The exact price depends on how complex your alignment needs are and how many sets of trays your journey requires. Many dental insurance plans include orthodontic coverage that applies to clear aligners, and our office creates custom, interest-free monthly payment plans to ensure the treatment fits your household budget.
